Deal, Kent

DEAL, AN ANCIENT TOWN ON THE EAST KENT COAST

First mentioned in the Doomsday Book of 1086, Deal became a 'limb' of the Cinque Ports in 1278 and due to the safe anchorage known as the Downs became the busiest port in England. Today it is a seaside resort with quaint streets and houses, ancient buildings and reminders of its military and fishing heritage.
